I
came here alone 27 years ago -- no family or friends in the US. I
had $100 dollars and a dream of not being second to any man. I was
26
years old and I spoke no English. Now I am a successful professional,
well respected in the community, serving on many boards, and
volunteering with non-profits. I could take all the credit for my
achievements, but I know luck had a lot to do with it.

I
am so happy for you! I'm really glad to see that you have not given
up and are fighting for your dreams. I completely understand where
your coming from. I myself share the same experience. It's hard
to find people that can understand what we must live through everyday.
I feel blessed for being able to attend school and finally obtaning
a degree. Yet, I still face many challenges and often question what's
next? I do think that as young professionals sharing similar experiences,
we must stand together and network. By helping each other we may
be able to beat closed doors and also bring opportunities to others
who are in need as we once were.
