Parents and students: Learn more about the DREAM Act.

Arrived in summer 1990, one day after finishing my final test of Bachelor in Accounting. I knew then I had to go somewhere for a better job and opportunities. I considered myself a smart guy and I knew my way around the big city and what I needed to do in order to blend in. I went to college to learn the language and improve the accounting skills that differed from those in Mexico. I had been working steadily, yet always in the hiding, always fearful someone will find out my real story, always afraid someone might run a background check on me and find out I have been overstaying illegally for so many years. I even lost my ability to drive as I could not longer renew the license due to new regulations. I even had a romantic domestic partnership that lasted 12 glorious years. I miss that relationship, but I know the reality of being illegal played a small role in the break up. It is hard to ask someone to carry the cross with you for a long time. We still talk on the phone, always wishing well and hoping for a solution in the government. Today I’m jobless, more concerned about the future, praying for a compromise in congress, and hopeful a new company will hire me soon based on my knowledge. But yet if I have to leave, I will always say: it was worth it, every second in this beautiful land of dreams.

So you have been here illegally since 1990,and all these years hiding and fearing to be caught and deported. The only redeeming part of your story is that you as opposite to many Mexican illegal aliens in our Country today, have not committed violent crimes or dealt in the drug traffic business. Had you done things right from the beginning and entered our Country LEGALLY you would probably be today a proud American Citizen not fearing deportation or jail. Praying for a Compromise in Congress? That they pass a law giving the coveted prize of Citizenship to millions of criminals that like yourself crossed the border by the back door getting in front of many more millions that wait patiently around the World for the legal opportunity to become an American? I hope Congress does not defraud the will of 85% of the population and do the right thing for a change.

It makes me feel good to see American commenters here with Hispanic names standing up to pro-illegal immigrant propaganda. Thank you Idilio. In my view, this website is a despicable attempt to blur the distinction between legal and illegal immigration. As such is anti-US sovereignty.

In reference to the other comments here I' d just like to say, What is wrong with you people? Regardless of where this person came from he is entitled to a better life. Now sure there are steps to be taken to get your life back on track just like every single one of us natural born citizens need to do at times. Do not apply the generalized view of criminals and drug dealers or your as guilty of racism as much as the KKK is. Perhaps if situations were reversed you would see things a different way.
