Parents and students: Learn more about the DREAM Act.

I married my husband in 2001 and he is being deported now because he had a deportation order back in 1999 when he came illegally to this country. We have a daughter together and I am lonely every night with fears that somebody is going to enter my house. I miss him very much and I wish these laws could change. I believe we have the freedom to live wherever we want to.

I disagree with you. If the US Government grants amnesty to all those who are here illegally, then what have they learned? NOTHING! What they did was illegal. There has to be consequences. If they wanted so badly to come here in the first place, then why did they not go about it the fair and legal way? I understand that people who immigrate are after a "better" life, or may even be chasing the "American Dream" but we, as a nation also have to look out for ourselves too. It is not fair to all of the hard working  U.S. Citizens, and even legal aliens for that matter, who work hard and pay taxes, for an illegal alien to just come from crossing the border and TAKE ADVANTAGE of welfare and food stamps* that TRUE TAX PAYERS help to pay for. They hurt our economy when they do that. Do not get me wrong, i am not against immigration, i simply believe that it should be done the fair and legasl way. Immigrants should not start their lives off in the US with an illegal act. That would only lead to more illegal acts. Look at the statistics.

*In the interest of truth, I think it's important to clarify that illegal immigrants are not eligible to receive welfare or food stamps anywhere in the United States.

You do have the right to live where you want as long as you go about it the right way.  Illegal immigrants put a strain on everything from our right to live in a safe neighborhood to earning a living wage.  How fair do you think it is for all of the people that have waited 10-15 years to become legal citizens and people like your husband come here illegal and expect protest and marches to provide legalization for him after just one year?  You want freedom and justice go home and apply the right way or rally and march for better living in your country.
