This
isn't my story, it's my cousin's. She is presently living with a man
who is a permanent resident. They have three children together and
have even bought a house. He is abusive ,controlling, manipulative
and a bully. He can file for citizenship and eventually file her paperwork.
He has refused to do this because he fears that she will become more
independent and eventually leave him. Secretly, I wish she would.
I can't talk to my cousin much these days because he has told me not
to call his house anymore. She can't drive because she is here illegally.
She is basically stuck at home. I know there is a part of the immigration
law that is for battered spouses and children. Can someone please
comment on this and tell me if she has to be married to him to be
eligible?

This can't happen. Ann you must sneak
her out of the house. Try to reason with her husband. HELP HER ANN.
