I
am an American citizen married to an "illegal immigrant".
We have been to a number of immigration attorneys to see if she can
change her status. Unfortunately, in order to do so, she would have
to go back to Mexico and apply there. We have three kids together,
so for her to go back to Mexico and apply is not rational. My wife
is a stay-at-home mom, so I don't think she would qualify for this
so-called guest worker program. It is very likely that society will
label her as an "illegal immigrant" for quite some time.
But to me she is my wife and the mother of my kids, not a criminal.

Hi Aaron,
As of this year they have begun the Pilot Waiver Program. If your
wife has no deportations or a criminal history, she can apply through
that. In the past you would stay in Mexico 3 months to a year. With
this program it could be as little as a day. I legalized through
that and came home the day after my second appointment. Its called
the I-601 pilot waiver program. Do some research. You will be glad
you did!
